| The purpose of this metric is to review and report on distributions of principal effectiveness ratings at the Quality Standard level. There are seven Principal Quality Standards, six of which pertain to professional practice and one that captures principal responsibility for student academic growth. The six standards pertaining to professional practice are Quality Standard 1 - Strategic Leadership, Quality Standard 2 - Instructional Leadership, Quality Standard 3 - Equity Leadership, Quality Standard 4 - HR Leadership, Quality Standard 5 - Managerial Leadership, and Quality Standard 6 - External Leadership. The professional practice standards have five performance evaluation ratings: Basic, Partially Proficient, Proficient, Accomplished, and Exemplary. Measures of Student Learning, also referred to in this display as Quality Standard 7, has four performance evaluation ratings: Much Less than Expected, Less than Expected, Expected, and More than Expected. In some cases, principals' ratings were not reported to CDE. This can occur for a variety of reasons, including the school has a waiver from reporting effectiveness ratings, the principals were new to the district, or the evaluations were not conducted in the prior year for another reason (e.g., medical leave). Principals without ratings are not included in this metric. The default Principal Quality Standard graph shows the percent of principals with each performance rating for Standard 1 for the most recent school year for which CDE has principal effectiveness ratings. To select a different Quality Standard, click on the Standard 1 dropdown in the bottom right corner of the graph. The table displays the percent of principals in each performance category for the Quality Standard selected and represented in the graph. To display information for the other school years, click on the year dropdown in the bottom left corner of the graph and select a different school year.Select a district from the navigation bar on the far right of the screen to view ratings distributions for specific districts.Personally Identifiable Information (PII): Two suppression rules have been applied to this Educator Effectiveness Metric to prevent the identification of individual principals' performance ratings. The first suppression rule prohibits showing data if there are fewer than five principals in the group examined. The second suppression rule prohibits showing data if 100% of the principals in the group examined received the same rating. If fewer than five principals are represented or 100% of the principals received the same rating, then asterisks will display instead of percentages. These two suppression rules combined protect the confidentiality of individual principals. Principal Quality Standard 1: Strategic Leadership | Name | Quality Standard Rating | 2018-19 % |
